Terms & Refund Policy

Plain English, because that is the whole point of this business. This page tells you what you get, what it costs, how changes work, and what happens if either of us wants to stop.
Who you are working with
Front Porch Web, LLC ("Front Porch Web", "I", "me") is a one-person web design business. Sean designs every site personally. When the site says "we", it still means me — I just write that way out of habit.
What you get
Your package is chosen when you check out, and what it includes is shown on the pricing page and again at checkout:

Sites are built as a single page with linked sections, which is how modern small-business and family websites work best. Premium is generous, not literally unlimited — if a project grows into something much larger than what we discussed, I will tell you before doing the work and quote it separately rather than surprising you.
What it costs, and when you pay
Prices are one-time project fees, not subscriptions. Payment is split in half:
- 50% deposit when you submit your questionnaire. This is what starts the work.
- 50% balance when the site is finished, before it goes live on your own domain.
Prices vary by the kind of site being built, so the amount shown at checkout is the amount that will be charged. Nothing is added later without asking you first.
Refunds and cancelling
The short version: you have 5 days from paying your deposit to change your mind and get all of it back, for any reason. After that it is non-refundable — but you still keep everything I have built.
Within 5 days of paying
Email me within 5 days of your deposit and I refund it in full. You do not need to give a reason, and it does not matter whether I have started building yet.
The window is a fixed 5 days precisely so neither of us has to argue about when work began. It also comfortably outlasts the 2–3 business days I take to get in touch, so you will always have heard from me while you can still change your mind.
After 5 days
Once the 5 days have passed, the deposit is non-refundable — by then I am into the work, and it pays for the time already spent. If you cancel at this stage you owe nothing further, and I will send you whatever has been built so far so the money is not wasted.
If you are unhappy with the result
Tell me. Use your revision rounds — that is exactly what they are for. If I have genuinely failed to build what we agreed and revisions have not fixed it, email me and we will work out a fair partial refund. I would rather resolve it directly than have you feel stuck.
If I cannot finish
If something happens on my end and I cannot deliver your site, you get a full refund of everything you have paid, including the deposit.
After the site is delivered
Once your finished site has been delivered and paid for in full, the project is complete and the final payment is not refundable. Later changes are quoted as new work.
What a "revision round" means
A round is one consolidated set of changes. Look through the whole site, collect everything you want changed, and send it to me in one message — that is one round. Sending three separate emails over three days counts as three rounds, so it is worth gathering your thoughts first. I will always tell you when you are on your last round.
Revisions cover changing wording, swapping photographs, adjusting colours, and reordering sections. Starting over with an entirely different concept, or adding sections beyond your package, is new work and I will quote it before doing anything.
How long it takes
I will be in touch within 2–3 business days of your submission to confirm I have everything I need.
Most sites are ready for you to preview within 2 to 4 days of my receiving your completed questionnaire and photographs. That is genuinely how long it takes — the build itself is quick, and most of that time is me going through it properly before you see it.
I am a full-time student, so if school gets unusually busy or your project turns out to need more than the usual, I will tell you as soon as I know rather than let a date slip past quietly.
The clock depends on you too. If I am waiting on photographs or answers, that time does not count.
Seeing the site before it goes live
You see the finished site before it goes live. I send you a link to view it, and nothing is published to your own domain until you have had a chance to look and tell me you are happy with it. That conversation happens by email, so we both have it in writing.
What I need from you
- Content and photographs you actually have the right to use
- Answers when I ask questions, so the project does not stall
- Accurate information — I build the site from what you tell me
Please do not send me photographs you found online or text copied from another business's website. You confirm that anything you give me is yours to use. If a project stalls with no reply from you for 60 days, I will treat it as cancelled under the terms above.
Who owns the website
You do, once it is paid for in full. On final payment, the finished website and its content become yours — take it anywhere, host it wherever you like, change it however you want. I will send you the files and help transfer your domain.
Your photographs and words are yours the whole time. I never claim ownership of those. I may mention that I built your site, but I will always ask before featuring your project as an example of my work.
Hosting after launch
Your package price covers building your website and setting up your custom domain. Keeping it online afterwards is separate, and you have two options:
- Take it with you — I hand over the files and you host it yourself. Costs you nothing further.
- Let me handle it — $25 a month covers hosting, keeping your site online, and small text or photo updates. Cancel any time by emailing me; I will stop the billing and hand you the files.
Domain registration is paid to the domain registrar, not to me, and is billed to you at whatever they charge — usually around $10–20 a year.
Things I cannot promise
I will set your site up properly for search engines — clear titles, descriptions, and a sitemap — but nobody can guarantee where Google ranks you, and I will not pretend otherwise. I also cannot promise a website will bring in a specific number of customers, or that an adoption or recruiting profile will produce a particular outcome.
I build the site well. What happens after that depends on far more than the website.
Limits
I do my best work on every project, but I cannot be responsible for losses beyond what you paid me. If something goes wrong, my responsibility is limited to the amount you have paid for that project. Nothing here removes any rights you have under consumer law.
If we disagree
Email me first. Genuinely — most problems are a misunderstanding that a conversation fixes, and I would much rather sort it out directly than have it become formal. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. The terms that apply to your project are the ones in place on the day you paid your deposit.
